Lansing Switch Road was closed for several hours today while Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene of what ended up being an “unfounded emergency.”
On June 22nd, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Longview Police Dispatch received a call from an unknown person about an emergency. The caller provided an address in the 3400 block of Lansing Switch, prompting the call to be transferred to HCSO Dispatch.
“Due to the nature of the information provided by the unknown caller, it required an immediate response from surrounding agencies and required the deployment of the HCSO Emergency Response Team,” said a press release from HCSO.
Once the HCSO Emergency Response Team cleared the residence and all occupants of the residence were accounted for, HCSO said the “emergency was unfounded.”
“I’d like to thank all the agencies who responded quickly to assist in today’s incident. I want to also recognize our citizens for not only remaining calm and being patient today but for also listening to our request while we worked during this situation,” said Sheriff B.J. Fletcher.
The Sheriff’s Office made a social media request at 3:40 p.m., asking people to avoid the area. Those who lived in the area were asked to stay inside. At 4:30 p.m., HCSO updated the post and said the scene was cleared.
