MPD names suspect in shooting at Citi Trends, suspect still at large

On Monday at 4:15 p.m., Marshall Police Communications were called about an active shooting in a store in the 600 block of S. East End Blvd. 

According to Marshall Police Department, callers stated that the male was still shooting as Marshall Police Department patrol officers arrived.  The officers immediately entered the store and determined that the shooter had already fled the scene.  Two female victims with gunshot wounds were located in the store.  Nearby businesses were locked down, and the immediate area was cleared for additional threats.    

Marshall Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and began rendering first aid to the victims, and they were transported to Christus Good Shepherd Marshall.  Fire Chief Reggie Cooper reports they were later transported to a Longview area hospital.

The victims identified the shooter as Montrell Antwon Hatton, 39, of Marshall. Investigators have obtained two arrest warrants for Hatton.  One warrant is for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon- Family Violence and the second is for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Hatton is believed to be driving a late model white four-door Chevrolet pickup truck.  He should be considered armed and dangerous

According to MPD, Hatton has not been located at the time of this release.  The Marshall Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office continue to search for Hatton.  Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Marshall Police Department at 903-935-4575.

5:35 pm update: Marshall Fire Chief Reggie Cooper confirms both shooting victims transported by Marshall Fire/EMS have been transported to Longview area hospitals.

Marshall Police Department is on the scene of a shooting incident at Citi Trends in Marshall. MPD reports two victims have been transported to the hospital. The suspect has not been located. Marshall Police says they will release more information as it becomes appropriate.
