Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 12:34 a.m., the Marshall Police Department received a call stating
that a subject inside a residence in the 600 block of Carter Street had been shot. The caller stated
that the victim was being transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. Marshall Patrol Officers
responded to the residence on Carter Street and the hospital.
The shooting victim, Martie Person, 22, of Marshall, suffered a single gunshot wound and
died as a result. He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Clarice Watkins in the
emergency department of Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center- Marshall.
The investigation into Mr. Person’s tragic murder continued through the night and is ongoing.
The Marshall Police Department offers its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Person.
