Texas A&M Forest Service responds to numerous fires in East Texas

While they are all 100% contained, the Texas A&M Forest Service responded to at least seven wildfires in four East Texas counties during the weekend, including three in Cass County, two in Harrison County, one in Gregg County, and one in Marion County.

Contained fires:

Marion 3787 Fire, Marion County – 30 acres

Cass 3747 Fire, Cass County – 20.4 acres

Cass 3765 Fire, Cass County – 10 acres

Cass 3768 Fire, Cass County – 3.5 acres

Gregg 3771 Fire, Gregg County – 6 acres

Harrison 3732 Fire, Harrison County – 5 acres

Harrison 3764 Fire, Harrison County – 8 acres

– Phantom Hill Fire, Jones County – 8.7 acres

– Bravo Fire, Johnson County – 60 acres

– Roach Fire, Knox County – 151 acres

– Mesquite Berry Fire, Knox County – 238 acres

Texas A&M Forest Service and TIFMAS fire resources responded to 12 new requests for assistance on wildfires across the state Sunday, and are battling well over a dozen active fires. On Saturday, Texas A&M Forest Service firefighters responded to 21 new wildfires that burned 2,743 acres.

– Almost 3 Mile Fire, Fayette County – 13.8 acres, 98% contained

– Little Thicket Fire, Williamson County – 2.7 acres, 90% contained 

– Freestone 3774 Fire, Freestone County – 53 acres, 90% contained 

– Four M Fire, Erath County – 25 acres, 0% containment

– Flat Top Fire, Somervell County – 0.6 acre

– Mitchell 3786 Fire, Mitchell County – est. 2,000 acres, 0% contained

– Henke Cot Fire, Gillespie County – est. 150 acres, 0% contained

– Nethery Road Fire, Kimble County – 20 acres, 0% contained 

– Three Aces Fire, Young County – 25 acres, 50% contained 

– Hard Castle Fire, Bosque County – 540 acres, 70% contained

– Right of Way Fire, Milam County – 106.8 acres, 95% contained

– Deerhead Fire, Baylor County – est. 500 acres, 50% contained

– Nottingham Fire, Taylor County – 32 acres, 90% contained

– Harvey Smith Road Fire, La Salle County – 45 acres, 95% contained

– Blanket Fire, Brooks County – est. 4,500 acres, 40% contained

There are currently 195 counties with burn bans.
