Jefferson Lion overjoyed to be honored with ABCD Award

The Texas Lions Camp Board of Directors recently convened in Kerrville for their semi-annual meeting.

The elected directors are voting members of TLC’s Board of Directors and are engaged on a monthly basis in the work of seeing that TLC has what it needs to operate. This is a working position with specific duties and expectations as the position serves as the primary liaison between their district and Texas Lions Camp.

Peggy Walker, Texas Lions Camp Director from Lions District 2-x2, was awarded the ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty) Award for having the greatest number of TLC contacts and visits of any Director in the state during this past year. She also received the second-year Director’s 100% pin for meeting or exceeding the minimum of at least 15 speaking engagements per year.

Walker said it was a big surprise to receive the top award.

“Each time I get to speak about TLC is an opportunity for a family to learn what Texas Lions Camp is all about,” she said. “Please contact me to set up an information booth at your event or to speak to your group or organization. I am always ready to talk about Texas Lions Camp.”

Texas Lions Camp’s mission is to provide, without charge, a camp for children with physical disabilities, diabetes and cancer from the State of Texas, regardless of race, religion or national origin.

Texas Lions Camp’s goal is to provide an atmosphere wherein children who have physical disabilities will be allowed to achieve maximum personal growth and self-esteem.

To schedule a presentation or information booth for your group, club, church, business, community event or organization, please contact Peggy Walker, Texas Lions Camp Director, at 903-926-1960 or email [email protected].
