The Elysian Fields Cross Country team competed at the White Oak Meet on Saturday, September 2, 2022, and saw both team and individual success.
The Varsity Boys team placed fifth out of 13 teams at the meet. Individual Medalists include; Cara Sims – 1st place, Drew Simms – 7th place, Grant Sims – 8th place and Kirsten Commander – 13th place.
Commander is the newest member of the growing team. Off-season basketball and tennis athletes have joined the team and are contributing.
All of the Elysian Fields runners performed well, and some shaved significant time from their races on Saturday. Major time cutters are Elleanna Gonzalez, who cut 1:41, Andy Mclendon, cutting 1:25 from his time, Maddox Morgan cut 1:06 and Tatum Wallace shaved 37 seconds.
The next meet is Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Hallsville High School, located at 616 Cal Young Ln in Hallsville. The rolling start begins for 5A-6A schools at 8 am. Elysian Fields Varsity Girls will likely begin around 8:45 am, with the Varsity Boys team following.
