Jefferson Police officers reimbursed for required but unfunded equipment

The Jefferson Adopt-A-Cop organization recently reimbursed Jefferson Police officers and Marion County Sheriff’s deputies for required equipment not paid for by their departments.

Jefferson Adopt-A-Cop is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was formed to assist law enforcement officers within Marion County with their out-of-pocket required expenses. Some required items are one-time purchases, like a weapon, and some are recurring and costly expenses, like ammunition and boots. These expenses can create quite a hardship on the officers and their families, adding up to over $1,300.00 per officer.
