The Marshall-Harrison County Literacy Council’s 21st Annual Corporate Spelling Bee was last Friday at the Marshall Convention Center.
After a lengthy competition back and forth between the team from Marshall High School and three-time defending champions the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce team, the judges made an unprecedented decision to end the Spelling Bee in a tie!
The Marshall High School team was made up of Vinuth Gamage, Kenleigh Lindermann and Emily Patel, all students at MHS. Jeff Stuart, Olivia Runnels and Josh Moore competed for the chamber.
Executive Director Karen Bickerdike said, “Congratulations to these very bright students and community members. They were given some very challenging words to spell and conquered.”
